Join human service providers, city and county government, business leaders, educators, members of faith communities and others as we:

  • Learn about best practices being used across the country
  • Begin to craft solutions that fit for Helena

Forum Highlights

Sue Watlov Phillips, M.A., Executive Director (1983 - present) of Elim Transitional Housing, Minneapolis, MN. Watlov Phillips has started and runs some of the most successful housing and homelessness programs in the country. Elim Transitional Housing serves about 6,000 people each year, with an annual operating budget of $2.5 million, through prevention, rapidly exiting individuals, youth and families from shelters into permanent housing, provides transitional housing, permanent supportive housing and permanent housing. Watlov Phillips is the past president of the National Coalition on Homelessness.

Bill Simmons, CEO, MasterLube in Billings, Montana. MasterLube, has a tradition of hiring people other employers would hesitate to, including high school dropouts, persons who are homeless, ex-convicts, or people who have been chronically unemployed. Mr. Simmons has found a way to successfully access a large, untapped labor pool. The MasterLube philosophy lies in offering people the opportunity to work hard while defining and furthering their progress toward their dreams.
